Member of Bobbin Lace Club GRACIA at Regional Cultural Centre Žilina, lecturer.

“I have been a member of Bobbin Lace Club GRACIA at Regional Cultural Centre Žilina since it was founded 20 years ago. I became familiar with bobbin lace during my studies at the Secondary School for Applied Art in Bratislava, 1962-66. I have been making bobbin lace for over 50 years.

My work focuses on figural compositions, with emphasis on my own emotions and imagination, and using colours and underpainting lace by acrylic colours. I have given a new dimension to many photographs by using lace. I am interested in regional lace; it is a relaxing activity for me. I enjoy trying out new techniques such as tin, FIMO and enamel, which I combine with lace in jewellery making.

I lead courses for beginners but also for advanced lacemakers in our club ’Creativity and Dexterity in Bobbin Lace Making‘. At the moment I am creating a series of video tutorials called ’Learning to Make Bobbin Lace‘, which was initiated by the Regional Cultural Centre in Žilina.

I have created many lace making patterns, which are known and loved in Slovakia and abroad. I present my work via Facebook and my website  https://www.palickovanie-buranova.sk
